I have been going my the name “DarthJay” (a.k.a. – Jay Hough) ever since I played my first online game, Quake II, and I have been hanging onto it (wherever it’s not already taken) ever since. I currently live in the Dallas area with my amazing wife and 3 kids (our dog, our cat, our bearded dragon and our newly rescued bunny) and work as a manager/developer at a small ad agency in the Dallas area. I’ve been watching social media explode over the years and have been amazed by the different ways people use it to promote themselves and the things they love, stay connected and reach out in ways they have not been able to do so before.
Twitter has been of particular interest to me. When it first came out, I honestly didn’t see the benefit of it. Why in the world would anybody want to use a 140-character micro-blogging tool!? Oh Twitter, how you proved me wrong. Twitter has become a life-line for millions of people where they can express their opinions, their joys and frustrations — a place where people can follow what they like and feel truly connected to those that may not otherwise have anything to do with them. C’mon, admit it – don’t you kinda feel like you’re in some kind of “inner circle” when that favorite celebrity of yours tweets something out to you? It’s an amazing phenomenon – and one that I will not be quick to underestimate again.
